Lottoland & nDuo: Streamlining Success

The client

The popularity of the UK National Lottery is immense, with recent research suggesting that around 45m people have bought a ticket at least once in the last few months. Today many people look beyond our shores, to the international lottery landscape to give themselves more chances to win the dream and Lottoland was created to make it easier for them to do so.

There are lotteries in Ireland, mainland Europe, the US and Australia. In 2013, Lottoland launched to bring these jackpots into one place and let customers bet on the outcomes of 30+ games. Customers place their bet with Lottoland and choose numbers or lines, similar to buying an official lottery ticket. If they win, the payout matches what an official winner would receive for the selected lottery. In short, Lottoland makes it easier to take part in one or more international lotteries.

The challenges

Lottoland has grown to be one of the biggest players in this burgeoning sector and today they have over 500 employees from tens of countries and continue to expand rapidly.

Much like any business in their situation, they soon recognised a number of rather significant problems that risked impacting their growth plans:

  1. Keeping up with the compliance requirements of their heavily regulated sector.
  2. Management challenges of an expanding Apple fleet.
  3. Maintaining security levels in a field with significant competition and a highly mobile workforce.

In April 2021 Lottoland turned to nDuo to help them overcome these challenges.

The Solution

Lottoland initially approached nDuo for a Mac-focused MDM solution. As discovery progressed, we expanded the scope to improve their wider end-user computing environment and reduce manual workload. The outcome was a modern platform that strengthened control, improved visibility and enabled automation across key IT processes.

In the end our work with them included:

  1. Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Mac devices, using Jamf
  2. Mobile Device Management (MDM) for Windows devices, using Intune
  3. ID security and compliance, using Okta
  4. Enterprise WiFi authentication, using SecureW2
  5. Ongoing nDuo Maintenance and after care

The results

In practical terms Lottoland benefitted by:
• Onboarding automation reducing a 2 hour manual task to just 15 minutes
• Compliance and security changed from estimation to crystal clarity
• Offboarding and access revocation is now instant when previously it would have taken hours or even days to complete
• Streamlining and automation reduced the potential for human error, increasing accuracy confidence
