Our place in a Revolut story

Revolut’s Story

The Revolut team have always dreamed big, determined to build the world’s first truly global financial superapp –‘Superapp’ Even their use of this kind of language says something about the impact they wish to make and the opportunity for change they see in front of them.

It was just a few short years ago in 2015 that Revolut was launched and in just a year it had grown to 100,000 money transfer and exchange customers.

Today, 20 million personal users and just under a million businesses customers around the world use dozens of Revolut’s innovative products, from those that help them invest in commodities and cryptocurrency to those that make it easier to give charitable donation or to open a junior savings account for their customers’ children.

Revolut helps customers to manage their money better and improve their financial health – and it seamlessly connects people across the world.

Our Place in the Revolut Story

From the very beginning Revolut made the choice to give its employees the best user experience at work by providing them with Apple Mac computers.

During their intensive growth period, as they expanded their customer base by over 200x, they needed to bring on more employees to manage this. They started onboarding 10, 20, then over 50 employees a week (sometimes simultaneously) – as they grew from hundreds to thousands of staff across the globe – and very quickly realised they needed a system more capable of handling this. If they were going to continue to scale up their operation, they needed a system which would allow them to automate the onboarding experience.

And, in 2018, that’s what we were brought in to help them with.

The most important challenges Revolut faced at this point that we were able to specifically help them with were that they needed to:

  • Reduce onboarding time (which was taking over an hour per device)
  • Allow employees to use their existing email account to log in to their Macs
  • Fully automate remote user onboarding (Zero-Touch)
  • Further strengthen their security and compliance
  • Restrict unauthorised apps from downloading and running
  • Manage software updates across their entire fleet

The Solution

Revolut required a state-of-the-art solution to transform its global Mac management infrastructure, to streamline its Mac fleet deployment process and to implement new workflows.

We chose to use Jamf Pro to achieve these goals.

Working alongside their own IT team, we helped Revolut to create a customised solution which we also designed and implemented with them, that not only addressed all the challenges the organisation was facing, but went so much further.

  • Reduce onboarding time from an hour to around 10 minutes per machine
  • Generate a seamless out of the box experience for employees working from home
  • Assign applications and policies to users based on their locations
  • Create a branded experience throughout all their machines
  • Deploy multi-factor authentication for user security and compliance

We know that a great employee experience is central to any digital transformation journey, so we worked collaboratively with Revolut’s in-house team to ensure that we were able to deliver this for them.
